For UN envoy Martin Griffith a "political solution" is possible, but world powers must support it. The war has already killed 10,000 people. At least 22 million people, 75% of the population, are in great need. More than 8 million people suffer from hunger. A solution is also needed for the port of Hodeida.

From August 18 to September 2, the Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang. Indonesian citizens accuse the authorities of organizing the event badly. Msgr. Suharyo invites the faithful to participate: "That the Games be the best opportunity to demonstrate national pride and hospitality of the country".
